Joined up living is easy once you get going. Join together with a group of friends or family and you’re nearly halfway there.
Creating your own JULI group or circle (Joined Up Living Initiative) means you’ll have plenty of help and support. Size is not important – you don’t have to do big things to make a difference, just regular everyday little things will do fine. Remember Mother Theresa’s suggestion that we can all do small things with great love.
There are lots of tips and ideas for earth-friendly living on our Eco eating, Green homes and Life ‘n’ style pages, but feel free to add more ideas and pass on your experiences by posting or emailing your own comments and suggestions. You don’t have to do (or even agree with!) everything that’s written here – the important thing is that we each make our own eco-choices that are right for us and our families.
We’re building up a network of JULI groups and circles, supporting and helping each other with local information and resources. So, wherever you live, there are lots of people happy to help you.
Let us know where you are and what you’re up to – the more of us living sustainably and compassionately, the better world we’ll leave for our children and their children.
CREATING YOUR OWN JULI GROUP OR CIRCLE
If you have just two or more friends or family members who’d like to join with you to make some simple steps towards joined up living, we’ll be happy to support you along the way. It’s a lot easier than you might think.
It’s not about feeling guilty for not doing enough. It’s all about feeling good and patting yourself on the back for every tiny change you make along the way. Every little thing is better than nothing. And there’s nothing more powerful than your shopping basket.
Have a look at our practical pages and add your own suggestions – your favourite ways of being eco-friendly, any new ways you find to do things in your home, how you’re recycling and exchanging clothes or produce, what you’re growing and cooking, what’s going on in your local area. Etc, etc, etc…
JULI groups are local and informal. Perhaps you’ll all get together or speak on the phone, or skype and email. It’s up to you. You are the important ones here. Don’t forget, the future is up to us. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for…
A GREAT WAY TO START
First put the kettle on. The real trick is to start simple. You could change everything all at once, but for many of us that can become overwhelming and off-putting.
You could agree among yourselves to make one change a week for the first four weeks. Choose your own agenda or take a look at our practical pages and select some simple things you could do without too much upheaval. And congratulate yourselves for each step you take. Don’t forget, your JULI friends are there to help you along the way.
We also have loads of tips and suggestions, so get in touch if you think we can help.
Good luck. And keep in touch.
